What does a nursing agency do when someone is dying at home?
An agency can assist with palliative care. If there are nursing activities, such as administering medication, intravenous, wound care and pain management, a palliative care nurse can come to the home. Visits can be several times a week or daily, depending on the needs of the individual. A nurse can also be booked to stay round-the-clock, or for a shift or two, depending on the needs of the client and family. A personal support worker, specifically trained to work with palliative or dying patients, can also assist with meal prep, bathing or just sitting with the patient while the family gets some much needed rest.
