It has been over 9 years since my Dad died, and it still hurts. I wish he were here. I miss him every day.

Hi Chris:
I also miss my Dad every day.
It is comforting to know that I am not the only one to miss their father. Losing my Dad was one of the main reasons why I wanted to start this charity. I believe that people who have lost Fathers belong to a “unique club.” We are often a secret, not spoken of group, but we are “out there.” It only takes a brief conversation with a stranger for stories of our father s to come to life. Most of us loved our fathers, miss them dearly and love to share stories of them. Here are a couple of ideas to honour our Fathers and to make ourselves feel better.
-On our website we have a special section called: “Living Legacies & Legends” It is a place to honour our parents, and share stories of their lives. If you would like to share a story about your Father, please do so, it is free. This section will allow text, pictures and videos. If you need some help in posting a story, let me know. We have volunteers who can help!
-Play some of your Dad’s favourite songs. When I listen and sing some of “his music” I fell very close with my Dad. I imagine him in heaven singing along with me. Singing his favourite tunes brings back great memories and warms my heart.
-Keep some of his possessions close to you. Perhaps you have his shoes, his watch, eye glasses or hat. Keep something of his at your place of work, in your car, your home or as jewellery to wear.
-Reach out to someone who has just lost their Dad or someone who has a very sick Father. Give them a hug and tell them that you understand how important our Fathers are and that you understand what they are going through. You will gain strength in knowing that you are helping someone who shares your pain.
My heart truly goes out to you today. I know how difficult and sad it is to miss a Father. Please know that you are not alone. I too miss my Dad, but we can all help each other.
Does anyone have other ideas to suggest to Chris?
