Can I ask a caregiver to help with my parent’s dog? He’s a great companion for them, but they can’t take him for walks.
“Have dog, will walk” is a great phrase for helping out with the senior’s most prized possession, their pet. If the caregiver is comfortable walking up the street and back with the dog then that should be encouraged. If the dog has obedience training, so much the better. A good collar and lead are necessary. Set a time limit, such as a 10-minute walk for a small or medium dog and a little more time for a larger one. Proof of current immunizations may be necessary as well.
