Grandma has forgotten my name and who I am. If I don’t visit, I feel guilty. But is it really worthwhile for me to be there?
It is very difficult to spend time with someone who doesn’t seem to know who you are. She may not remember your name, but on some level she will remember who you are and that she loves you. Even if you only visit once a week, or once a month, it will benefit your grandmother. There are many things that you can do with her, such as going for a walk around the facility, sitting with her at mealtimes and looking at photo albums, especially if you can find photos where you’re both together. Just having someone visit who loves her will benefit your grandmother in many ways.
