I have several elderly neighbours that I check up on each day. I’m going away for two months this summer and I’m worried about leaving them. Any suggestions?

It sounds like there may be no family available. Make sure that your neighbours all have emergency numbers handy at the telephone. If possible, include another neighbour’s number as a stand-in for urgent situations. A little store of non-perishable, easy to prepare food may be something they want to think about having. If your neighbours belong to a religious group, perhaps that group can provide a friendly call each day during your absence. Most importantly, the neighbours themselves must make the decisions as to what is right for them.
