Driving has become increasingly unsafe for my older sister. But if she gives up her car, she’ll be stuck at home. Is there a solution?
Loss of independence is always difficult. Has your sister been assessed by her doctor recently? If she is told that she needs to stop driving by her doctor, that will be easier for you as her family. By taking away the cost of the car, including insurance, gas and upkeep, you may be able to arrange for a taxi company to be available when your sister needs transportation. Another alternative is for a family member to be available at specific times during the week to take your sister on errands.
