I’m worried that my dad will fall while my wife and I are at work and nobody will be there to help him. Is there anything I can do?

You can make arrangements with a local emergency response company such as Lifeline. Your dad will wear a bracelet or a button around his neck that will allow him to call for help if he falls.

You should also make sure that the areas in which your father lives are free from clutter (such as rugs) to help prevent him from tripping.

Is your father involved in any kind of strengthening exercise that would also help prevent him from falling? If he wears glasses, are they the most recent prescription?

Another alternative is to arrange for someone to visit him daily while you are both at work, either through a volunteer organization such as a church group or through hiring someone to spend time with him.
